Save our bus by shopping local
Buses in Fleet
There's good news and bad news. The subsidised Stagecoach number 7 bus service has been saved for another year. However, because of the reduction in funding used to support the service, certain journeys have been withdrawn. As for next year, it's very likely that we may lose the service altogether, unless we all pull together to save it! Just a few more passengers on each trip each day would help to keep this service going.
If we lost this vital bus service it will become a devastating blow to many people within the local community and leave many isolated without alternative transport. Businesses along the route will also lose out from the loss of revenue from passengers and their shopping trips.
But there is a glimmer of hope. At Buses in Fleet we have a proposal for our community and local businesses. It's a proposal to pull together and help support each other, save the number 7 Stagecoach bus service and support local businesses.
Our vision is to help save our current bus services and provide more transport choices for Fleet and neighbouring communities. We want to encourage more people to use the bus with low cost or free bus travel solutions. We want to shape the future with buses powered by electric and renewable energy, helping to reduce congestion and harmful emissions. Better for our families, our community and the rest of our planet.
Come and share your views and suggestions in response to our proposals for the future at a series of events starting this February.
